WHO WILL OWN OUR MEDICAL DATA?
A personal property rights issue
23andMe, one of the world’s largest genetic biobanks, is too important to lose.
This is not just a transaction. It’s a turning point – a chance to model a new stewardship approach that restores trust and activates a virtuous cycle of greater research participation. This leads to richer datasets, which in turn drive better insights, diagnostics, treatments, and cures for individuals, patients and society as a whole.
We believe in a better option

THE MOVEMENT
Get involved
Support the Future of Health Data Stewardship Join us in establishing the Global BioData Trust—a forthcoming nonprofit initiative to secure, protect, and ethically govern personal DNA, genetic, and related health data. Our first major goal: the acquisition and stewardship of 23andMe’s biobank and biodata.
Until the U.S. based Trust is formally established with a nonprofit designation from the IRS and California, Consuli, a Delaware Public Benefit Corporation, is serving as interim steward and fiscal sponsor. We are seeking contributions that are not tax-deductible at this time and support the acquisition from bankruptcy proceedings.
All funds will directly support the formation and mission of The Global BioData Trust.
For those wishing to make a contribution over $100,000, please complete our ‘contact us’ form and someone from our Development team will reply to you.
